I'm a special education teacher, proud aunt, tabletop gamer, and the artist behind Rough to Wrap Lapidary Arts, where I transform natural stone into handcrafted jewelry and lapidary art.

More About Me

I have been drawn to creativity and hands-on learning for as long as I can remember. Being homeschooled gave me the freedom to explore a wide variety of interests, from horseback riding and Girl Scouts to reading, knitting, crochet, sewing, and quilting. I have always enjoyed learning new skills and finding creative ways to express myself, believing that every craft offers an opportunity to grow, solve problems, and create something meaningful.

That curiosity continues to shape who I am today. Whether I'm exploring a new hobby, enjoying a good book, spending time with family, or gathering around the table for a game with friends, I value experiences that inspire creativity, lifelong learning, and connection. I believe the best skills are those that are continually refined and shared with others, and I approach every new challenge with patience, curiosity, and a desire to keep learning.

What I do

At Rough to Wrap Lapidary Arts, I transform rough stone into handcrafted works of art that celebrate the natural beauty hidden within each specimen. My work begins with carefully selecting rough material for its color, pattern, and character before cutting, shaping, and polishing it to reveal the unique features created by nature over millions of years.

My portfolio includes traditional and freeform cabochons, designer cuts, stone intarsia, polished display pieces, and handcrafted wire-wrapped jewelry. I enjoy working with a wide variety of materials, particularly agates, jaspers, and other patterned gemstones whose natural banding, inclusions, and color variations become the focal point of each design. My wire wrapping is intentionally clean and understated, providing both security and balance while allowing the stone itself to remain the centerpiece. Whether creating a finished cabochon, an artistic intarsia composition, or a wearable pendant, my goal is to highlight the individuality of every stone and preserve the beauty that nature has already created.
